International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Symposium
Bozeman, MT, USA
7-10 September 2020
HILTON GARDEN INN
The first social event of IBBS18 will be an Opening Mixer following the Early Career Scholars (ECS) Workshop. Both the ECS workshop (2:00-5:00 pm) and the mixer (5:00-7:30 pm) will be held at the conference hotel. The mixer will be a chance to socialize with colleagues over libations and hors d’oeuvres. It will also be a chance to welcome the ECS to the larger IBBS membership. For those who did not preregister, on-site meeting registration will be possible at this event.
MUSEUM OF THE ROCKIES
After the technical sessions have concluded, delegates will move to the Museum of the Rockies (MOR). The MOR is a part of Montana State University, but is slightly off campus.
There will be socializing over beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres. Several of the museum galleries will be open for viewing. We will also air the movie, “Dawson City: Frozen Time” in the MOR auditorium. The movie, directed by Bill Morrison, has elements of both biodeterioration and biodegradation. It is the story of the finding and restoration of a trove of long-lost silent films that were buried in the Canadian permafrost. The films are cultural artifacts that provide a glimpse into life in the early 1900s.
A culminating dinner at the Broken Hart Ranch will be designed to provide delegates with a bit of a Montana experience. Transportation will be provided. The dinner will be Montana casual and there will be many things to observe and do as you stroll the grounds. We hope to have wagon rides and opportunities for the adventurous to ride horses. Bring your dancing shoes and prepare to dance the night away under a Montana sky.
